Elisabeth-Maria Wachutka
Soprano


The training of opera and concert singer Elisabeth-Maria Wachutka began at the Richard Strauss Music Conservatory and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich. Her teachers were Lorenz Fehenberger and Josef Metternich. She attended master classes by Erika Köth and Erik Werba and received scholarships from the Walter Kaminsky Foundation (Munich), the Richard Wagner Society (Munich) and the Richard Wagner Foundation (Bayreuth). She was winner of numerous competitions in Germany and Austria. Her vocal mentors were Ute Vinzing and Richard Trimborn. Her vocal support is in the hands of Sophie Raynaud of the Bavarian State Opera (Munich).

Elsa, Elisabeth, Senta, Isolde and Brünnhilde - the young women in Richard Wagner's operas are the focus of her repertoire, as well as the Empress, Ariadne, Salome, Marschallin, Chrysothemis and Elektra in the operas of Richard Strauss.

Elisabeth-Maria Wachutka occurs worldwide at major opera houses including at the Vienna State Opera, the San Francisco Opera, the Saxonian State Opera Dresden (Semperoper), the German Opera in Berlin, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Trieste and the Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos in Lisbon.

The artist sang at the Richard-Strauss-Days in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Guntram, Taillefer, Daphne), the Autumnal Music Days in Bad Urach (I Masnadieri, Rainulf and Adelasia), the Tyrolean Festival Erl (Elektra, Ring - Siegfried) and at the Festival Besançon, Lyon and Lille.

Over the years the singer has worked with many conductors:
Christian Thielemann, Lorin Maazel, Adam Fischer, Gustav Kuhn, Jun Märkl, Kazushi Ono, Roberto Paternostro, Christof Prick, Donald Runnicles, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Stefan Soltesz and Pinchas Steinberg.

On the concert stage the soprano appears with the major European and international orchestras, amongst others with a performance of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 8 in the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and a concert with works by Richard Wagner at the "Festival di Ravello".

Meanwhile, there have been several opera recordings with Elisabeth-Maria Wachutka in the leading roles:
Guntram (Richard-Strauss-Days - 1998), Siegfried (Tyrolean Festival Erl - 1999), Ariadne on Naxos (Teatro San Carlo in Naples - 2000), the world premiere of Siegfried Wagner's opera Rainulf and Adelasia (Autumn Music Days in Bad Urach - 2003) and Elektra (Tyrolean Festival Erl - 2005) as well as a CD (Studio 2009) with opera scenes of Richard Wagner's "Tristan and Isolde" and "Twilight of the Gods", Richard Strauss' "Elektra" and "Ariadne on Naxos" and Ludwig van Beethoven's "Fidelio" with the Württemberg Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Roberto Paternostro. This CD has been presented at "Klassik Radio" at a special broadcast with an interview (CD tip special broadcast).

Mrs. Wachutka has been extremely successful in the Loriot-Production "The Ring on an Evening" with all "Brünnhildes" (Valkyrie, Siegfried and Twilight of the Gods) at the Theatre Ulm under the baton of Niels Schweckendiek.

2014

 

She sang the main part in the oratorio "La Vierge" by Jules Massenet.
This production of Weingarten Abbey was recorded and transmitted by SWR2.
